About The Service
muncak.id is a directory of Indonesian mountain hiking trails, operated by Laboratorium Industri UNSOED as a non-commercial research project. We publish per-trail data, segment-by-segment detail, per-waypoint weather forecasts, a map explorer, trail comparison, live cameras, and articles.
The service is informational. We are not a trip organizer, not a guide service, and not the manager of any conservation area.
Hiking Safety & Data Limitations
Read this section carefully. Mountain hiking carries inherent risk, including serious injury and death.
All trail data — distance, elevation, segmentation, water points, time estimates, and difficulty ratings — is planning reference material, not a guarantee of field conditions. Trails can change, close, or deteriorate at any time without our knowledge.
Weather forecasts come from Open-Meteo numerical models. A model is not a certainty, and mountain weather can change far faster than any model can capture.
Trail condition classifications on the Live Cam pages are generated automatically by an artificial intelligence model reading camera imagery. Results can be wrong, out of date, or misread the image entirely. Treat them as a rough indication, never an official report.
Before you set out, always verify current conditions with the basecamp, the area manager, or the local national park authority, and comply with every applicable rule, quota, and permit procedure. The decision to start, continue, or turn back is entirely your own responsibility.
User Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your account access confidential and for all activity that occurs under it. The details you provide must be accurate and must not impersonate anyone else.
We may suspend or delete accounts that breach these terms, disrupt other users, or endanger the security of the service.
Content You Submit
Trail reviews, article submissions, and chat messages remain yours. By submitting them, you grant muncak.id a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, edit as needed, translate, and distribute that content in the course of operating and promoting the service.
You warrant that the content you submit is your own work or that you are entitled to share it, and that it infringes no one else's rights.
Every article submission passes through review before publication, and we may edit, reject, or take down any content without being obliged to explain. Reviews that are misleading or breach these terms may be removed.
Prohibited Conduct
- 01 Posting content that is false, misleading, defamatory, harassing, or unlawful.
- 02 Bulk-extracting site data (scraping), placing unreasonable load on our servers, or circumventing rate limits.
- 03 Conducting security testing, vulnerability scanning, or intrusion attempts without our written permission.
- 04 Decompiling, reverse-engineering, or copying parts of the service to build a competing one.
- 05 Using someone else's account, or impersonating an area manager or official authority.
Intellectual Property
The site design, the compiled trail database, editorial writing, and the muncak.id logo are protected by copyright and belong to Laboratorium Industri UNSOED unless stated otherwise.
Map tiles and elevation data come from OpenFreeMap, OpenStreetMap contributors, Esri, and terrain tile providers, each under its own licence. Some photography comes from Unsplash under its licence.
Third-Party Links & Services
This site links to companion applications (bekal.muncak.id, rekomendasi.muncak.id, tiket.muncak.id, chatbot.muncak.id) and to third-party services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply separately, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.
Service Availability
The service is provided as is, without warranty of availability, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. As a research project, muncak.id may experience outages, maintenance, feature changes, or partial discontinuation without prior notice.
Limitation Of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Laboratorium Industri UNSOED and the operators of muncak.id are not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from use of this service or from hiking decisions you make based on information found here.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Any dispute will first be pursued through good-faith discussion before any legal proceedings.
Changes To These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The last revision date appears at the top of this page, and continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the current version.
