Information

Details you need to know

  • Closure of all Semeru Mountain hiking trails since Wednesday, November 19, 2025. This decision was made following the eruption of Mount Semeru in the form of a heat cloud that occurred in a row (20-11-2025)
  • The route is the result of modification from the original source:  https://www.santridanalam.com/2014/10/tracklog-pendakian-gunung-indonesia.html
  • Source of front photo from Wikipedia: https://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunung_Semeru
  • The main water source on the Semeru Mountain hiking trail via Ranu Pani is Ranu Kumbolo and Sumber Mani. Ranu Kumbolo, a freshwater lake, is located on the hiking trail and provides enough water for needs during the trip to Ranu Kumbolo. After passing Ranu Kumbolo, hikers need to bring enough water supplies because the next water source is Sumber Mani, which is located about 1 kilometer from Kalimati to the west. (04-07-2025)
  • Mount Semeru is currently on alert or Level 2 (20-01-25).
  • The Semeru Mountain hiking trail was opened on May 16, 2025, but only up to Ranu Kumbolo (18-05-2025)
  • The quota is 200 people up to Ranu Kumbolo. The duration of the hike is 2 days 1 night. All hikers are also required to follow the SOP https://bromotenggersemeru.id (24-04-2025)
